Welcome Back!

April 4, 2012

Spring Break is over – back to the daily grind of classes, reading, taking notes, studying and writing.

Do you have a research paper to finish before the end of term?  Need to find high quality information FAST?  Have no fear, the MCC Library is here.

Starting with a Research Guide will greatly reduce the amount of time you spending digging through the irrelevant and poor quality sources that dominate the free web.

If you have questions about using the Research Guide or where to begin your research don’t hestitate to ask – that’s why we’re here!

Book Vacation

March 21, 2012

SPRING BREAK IS HERE! (almost)

The weather is practically perfect and Spring Break is just around the corner that means it is the perfect time for a Book Vacation!

Do you want to travel to new places?  Do you want to meet new people?  A Book Vacation can do both!  How?  Well, just open a book and away you go!

Need suggestions on what to read?  Why not take a suggestion from people who work at the MCC Library?

Connie LOVED the Hunger Games trilogy (the movie opens on March 23rd!) and thinks Copper Beach by Jayne Ann Krentz is a fun read.  For great characters try the Inn of Boonsboro series.

Amy recommends A Dog’s Purpose.

Cynthia was pleasantly surprised by Life by Keith Richards.  For gorgeous storytelling try Elizabeth Kostova’s The Swan Thieves.

Janet suggests trying out your forensic skills with the Body Farm series by the team of Jefferson Bass (Dr. Bass is a world-renowned forensic anthropologist – so plenty of realistic details here).

Want to include culinary delights in your Book Vacation? Kate likes Cook This, Not ThatFor some inspiration with a dash of humor try The Happiness Project.

What about what I think?  My favorite book this year (so far) is The Red Garden by Alice Hoffman which brings together historical fiction and a touch of magic.  I am most looking forward to reading Legend by Marie Lu because dystopian novels are my absolute favorites!

Need other suggestions?  Just ask we can help you find exactly what you are looking for.

Enjoy your Book Vacation!
